Networking, Firewall & VPN

In order to maintain secure 2-way data communication between Nola Edge servers and Nola Cloud endpoints, the following network firewall exclusions are required:

  • Outbound/Inbound to vpn.app.nolahq.com (port 62315, UDP). This is the primary VPN (Wireguard) connection. Its purpose is to deliver data securely to Nola Cloud. Inbound calls are used to monitor health status and for manual software restarts, to request camera views to configure services and display on dashboards if required, may also be used for software updates on POC deployments.
  • Outbound to https://app.nolahq.com (port 443, TCP). The purpose of this connection is to receive initial configuration.
  • Outbound/Inbound to 51.161.198.85 (port 51820, UDP). This is the secondary VPN connection in case if primary VPN connection goes down.
info

Firewall exclusions listed above will be different when running Proof-of-Concept or Joint Collaborative Research and Development projects. Ask Nola team about firewall rules for those cases.

info

In Nola Enterprise deployments, app.nolahq.com will be whatever hostname you nominate on your network.
